The Colorado Train Club is an informal group of people who setup an HO scale modular layout at public shows or events. Colorado Rail Link is the name of the fictional railroad of the Colorado Train Club. The primary purpose of public shows is to entertain the public, expose the public to model trains running through interesting scenery, and for members to have fun running trains. There are normally about four to six shows or events per year.
The club was formed in 1991. At that time all modules were owned by individuals, but modules are now owned by the club and individuals. Over the years we have attended several National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) national conventions from Florida to Washington state.
The club has no meetings, no officers, no dues, no disruptive politics, and all members have a say in what the club does. However, a coordinator takes care of the details of attending shows and communicating with the members, and a treasurer handles money received from attendance at shows. Membership is open to any person who is tall enough to run trains on the layout, assist in the work required, and cooperate with other members. Some younger members may need a parent or guardian to supervise them.
